30 Minute Friendly Monster Marshmallows on a Stick
Hey friends, I get it . . . time is precious. But you can do this one in under 30 minutes - I promise! The wafers melt in the microwave and wax paper and plastic utensils ensure super quick clean up! By now you probably realize that I'm a big fan of food crafting. The colored chocolate wafers are one of my favorite products because they are affordable and come in vibrant colors that are easy to incorporate into any event. Remember the ice cream cones I made for the 4th of July? You can easily include the kids in this project - any age over three can dip and dunk!
Materials:
Chocolate Wafers
Candy Googly Eyes
Lollipop Sticks
Marshmallows
Bowls for Melting Wafers
Spoons for Stirring Melting Wafers
Bags and Ribbon for Packaging (if desired)
Aren't these little candy eyes just adorable? I can't wait to use them on cookies and cupcakes too! They taste like sweet tarts.
I start with three colors of chocolate wafers - green, orange and purple - classic Halloween colors. To make clean up easier, you can melt them in disposable paper bowls. I use small 1/2 cup glass bowls and microwave them all together for 30 second increments. I do stir them before restarting each time. It takes about two minutes total to melt all three bowls.
While they are melting, grab a cookie sheet and line with wax paper. Line up your marshmallows, discarding any crooked ones, and push a lollipop stick through the center.
There really isn't any special technique to this . . . just dunk, swirl and scrap the excess off on the edge of the bowl.
Place them on the wax paper lined cookie sheet to firm up. I do about 10 and then go back and add the eyes so they don't slide off.
The chocolate hardens within 30 minutes and they are ready to package, if desired. I use small favor bags that measure 6" x 3.75" to package, along with colored ribbon.
Happy Halloween!
